2023 marked our 25 Year - Silver Anniversary!

Founded in 1998 by Senator Robert & Ginnie Littell, Ginnie's House serves children in Sussex County, New Jersey. A CAC hosts a legally defensible forensic interview, and provides therapy and family assistance to victims of child abuse.

We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is a nationally-accredited full member of the National Children's Alliance.

Our Mission

Ginnie's House provides a child-friendly environment where children are helped through coordinated efforts of child protection, law enforcement and prosecution, healthcare and mental health agencies when child abuse is suspected, disclosed or reported. Victims will find Ginnie's House to be a child-friendly place that reduces further trauma by hosting a legally-defensible forensic interview and coordinating services each family may need.

Trauma Focused Therapy for Victims of Child Abuse

Treatment for children at Ginnie's House is managed in a way that makes the child feel safe and special.

All of our child therapists are trained in different modalities and utilize age-appropriate interventions.

Therapeutic Modalities include:

Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT),

Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), and more.

Huey, our Facility Dog, is often here to lend a helping "paw" as well.

Prevention Education Initiatives

While a main component of a CAC is to help children after abuse has occurred, our primary focus is preventing abuse in the first place! Ginnie's House provides state-mandated Erin's Law Training for teachers and staff in Sussex County, as well as many other trainings.

Medical Services

For any child who may have been abused or maltreated, Ginnie's House works with specially-trained child abuse pediatricians and forensic nurses to provide a diagnosis, treat any conditions, and refer for follow-up treatment. If a child has injuries that need immediate medical treatment, they should be seen in the emergency room.

Support for the Family

Our Family Advocate program provides a safe space for parents and caregivers to receive guidance throughout this healing process. We know that dealing with the aftermath of abuse can be a challenging time for many families,

but know you are not alone on this journey.

As with child therapy, working with our family advocate is free of charge.

Volunteer Opportunities

While our volunteers do not work directly with our clients, we rely heavily on them for awareness & education events, as well as fundraising and office help. Email andrea@ginnieshouse.org if you're interested in scheduling an interview.
